Red Island has unveiled its first image

Robin Campillo returns with a new drama

Currently in post-production, this is the director's fourth feature film after Les Revenants (selected at Venice Orizzonti in 2004), Eastern Boys (winning the Best Horizons Film Award at the Mostra in 2013) and 120 Beats Per Minute (winning the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017 before receiving the César for Best Film the following year).

The cast includes Nadia Tereszkiewicz, who won the César for Best New Actress in 2023, and who was seen in Fabienne Berthaud's Tom, and will soon be seen in François Ozon's Mon Crime, the Spaniard Quim Gutiérrez, who won the 2007 Goya for Best New Male Actor, the young Charlie Vauselle, as well as Sophie Guillemin, nominated for a César for Best New Female Actor in 1999 and 2001.

The setting is Madagascar, at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s. On a French army airbase, the soldiers live the last carefree years of colonialism. Influenced by his readings of Fantômette, Thomas, a child who is not yet 10 years old, gradually forms his own view of the world around him...

The first image of the film is contrasted between holidaymakers in beachwear in the foreground and parachutes in the second, surely interrupting the tranquility on the island.

Les Films de Pierre, France 3 Cinéma, Memento Films Production and the Wallonia-Brussels Federation are supporting us in this beautiful project.
